After 3 Years, Pattaya’s Penthouse Hotel Makes Grand Return with Spectacular Reopening

Pattaya’s renowned Penthouse Hotel, once considered an emblem of a rebellious era, is set to make a remarkable comeback. Situated a stone throw away from Beach Road near Soi Pattayaland 2, the hotel’s rooms boasted unconventional features like go-go poles, swings, and hot tubs. Embracing a bordello-inspired theme, it exclusively catered to adult guests.

Each room had its own distinct theme, including the enticing “Babylon Spa Suite,” vibrant “Party Patpong,” and lively “Pattaya.” These unique offerings appealed to the hordes of Western sex tourists who frequented Pattaya. However, as the city began to transform and attract Chinese and Russian tourists instead, the Penthouse gradually became a relic of the past.

Unfortunately, the hotel’s decline was further exacerbated by a lack of maintenance, with rooms being described as unclean even by the adventurous individuals who sought its accommodations. The pool, often utilized for activities beyond swimming, gained notoriety to the extent that a female guest once expressed concerns about getting pregnant just from being in the water.

Like many establishments, the Penthouse Hotel succumbed to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and closed its doors in June 2020. However, in April, the building was sold, leading to a significant renovation effort. While progress was initially slow, work has recently accelerated, signaling a promising future for the hotel.

Stickman Bangkok, a notable commentator on Pattaya’s nightlife scene, expressed enthusiasm for the revamped and refurbished Penthouse Hotel: “This will be a great addition to Pattaya’s hotel stocks,” Stickman Bangkok wrote in his famous column. “At the height of its popularity, Penthouse was a super popular, unique property – and one of those places where every eager fan of the nightlife industry should stay at least once!”
