Phuket goes into partial lockdown! But Sandbox continues!

Not much to report these days when everything that is about nightlife and entertainment is closed nationwide.

Nevertheless the Phuket Sandbox opened July 1 and as of today around 10.000 international tourists arrived so far at the island. Unfortunately several local covid cases that are NOT connected with any arrivals came up within the last days. This first lead to a closure of shopping malls, sport clubs and stadiums, public pools or “venues that have a pool table inside” (original wording). A few hours later and with more local covid cases being reported the Phuket governor signed an order that is closing the island from August 3 on starting a partial lockdown. Nobody from outside will be allowed to enter the Island beside international travelers with a “Certificate of Entry” (COE) for the Phuket Sandbox that are directly arriving with international flights at Phuket airport. Domestic flights are cancelled and arrivals by boat, train or car are no longer possible!
